Ricky Gervais’ first outing since the massive success of The Office sees him without writing partner Stephen Merchant, and doing stand up as ‘Ricky Gervais’.

If you remember him from the eleven o’clock show, then you’ll know his humour is a little darker than it was allowed to be on the BBC. No one is safe from his barbs, and there is almost a guilty pleasure to be had from someone being so ‘ist’ about anything. There is a slew of stand up shows available as it’s effectively cheap to knock one out on DVD for that flavour of the month. Some rise to the top though, Peter Kay’s Live at the Blackpool Tower and now this. Gervais is on great form, and the hit rate of gags is extremely high – made funnier by his talented delivery. A simple glance to the audience is enough to send them into stitches, and you feel Gervais is having as much as fun you – which is vital to comedy.

Is it something you’d watch again and again? Depends on how much you rate Gervais, but I would say if you enjoyed The Office, you’d get a few viewings out of this to make it worth your while.
